Bee for iPhone and Android: Introducing version 3.0.0

Earlier this year we released Bee for iPhone version 1.3.0 and Bee for Android version 2.6.1. Following on from then, we have been working hard to take on your feedback and make further improvements to the app for both iOS and Android.

As a result we are delighted to announce we are releasing version 3.0.0 of Bee for both iPhone and Android on 22 November 2017 at 6am to a select group of Bee users. We will release the update to the remaining Bee users in the following weeks.

Common updates to Bee for iPhone and Bee for Android

This latest release will ensure Bee for iPhone and Bee for Android have visual and functional parity with one another. As a result, many of the updates being made as part of Bee for Android version 3.0.0 are also due to made as part of Bee for iPhone version 3.0.0.

Updates specific to Bee for Android

To ensure that both versions of the app are up-to-date with one another, there are a number of Android specific improvements as part of version 3.0.0.

UPDATED Friday 15 December 2017:

Version 3.0.0 of Bee for Android is an end-to-end redevelopment of the app, which ensures it works in the same way across a wider variety of mobile devices.

As a result of this extensive work to Bee, there are a couple of technical updates your users need to be aware of:

Login credentials:
Following the update to Bee 3.0.0, regrettably the user’s existing login credentials (i.e. saved Server URL on full sign-in, or App PIN) will not have been migrated.  Unless purposely altered by their own system administrators, Bee (Staff) user login credentials have not changed.  Each Bee 3.0.0 user will be required to enter their full sign-in credentials following an update from any earlier versions (i.e. v2.6.1 and older) – after which, they will be given the opportunity to set up a new App PIN to store their login credentials.  We present no restrictions on what custom 4-digit App PIN they can configure, so users can freely set the same App PIN they used in their previous version of Bee.

Launcher Icon:
Following the update to Bee 3.0.0, regrettably the user’s existing Bee phone launcher icon will have been removed.  Bee 3.0.0 will be installed on their device, but each user will be required to manually create a new launcher icon should they wish to have one.  As each Android device’s interface can differ greatly from manufacturer to manufacturer, we advise users to refer to their device manual for clarification on how to create new app icon on their phone’s launcher page.
