Recipe for happy staff

Delivering a high standard of customer service often depends on retaining the best staff and of course having happy staff. Keeping staff motivated and engaged is key. We all love a cake with our morning coffee so here is our recipe for retaining good field based staff with our ‘happy cakes’!

Ingredients:

Online rostering system – 110g (4oz)
Well training and motivated roster manager x 1 (or more if required)
Good communications – 110g (4oz)
Easy to use tools – 110g (4oz)
Bee app (for electronic call monitoring) – 1-2 tbsp

Method:

Pre-heat the oven to 180° (Gas 4) and line a 12-hole muffin tray with paper cases.happy cakes for happy staff

Take a large mixing bowl and add the best online rostering software in order to match your client requirements with available staff. Combine a well-trained roster manager to get the most out of your software. (Tip: Review your training requirements regularly to ensure you are keep up to speed with any software updates or changes).

Gradually add your staff to your rostering system ensuring that they have easy access to their roster. Being able to see their daily or weekly schedule on their phone or online enables staff to feel more in control of their work and schedule.

Add easy communications to your mixing bowl. Give staff the ability to easily communicate availability changes or issues with being unable to carry out a booking. This can be achieved via a messaging app on their mobile phone linked to your rostering system. This will reduce calls into the office and save time. Roster changes can be proactively dealt with rather than managers having to react when something becomes a more serious problem.

Stir in staff access to their roster on their mobile phone, this will reduce paperwork and administration. (Tip: printing and posting rosters can be a major cost to your business, emailing or giving staff online access will reduce costs).

Finally add the ability to check in and out of bookings using a smartphone app such as Bee, this will increase the accuracy of timesheets and improve service delivery.

Combine all of these ingredients, mixing well and adjust seasoning according to taste. Bake in the oven at 180° (Gas 4) for 20 minutes.

Serve your team ‘happy cakes’ on a regular basis to keep them engaged and positive!
